The Truth About Vaccines

Almost everyone has received a vaccine in their lifetime. Whether it is the flu, RSV, shingles, polio, covid, hepatitis, chickenpox, etc. but has anyone ever asked or wondered what are the ingredients in these vaccines and how are they created? These are important questions no one ever seems to ask. People typically trust their doctor and the government with their health. However, what if I informed you one of the ingredients and practices used in vaccines are aborted human fetus cells. How would you feel? A little bit disgusted, perhaps shocked? What about dogs, and dog kidney cells? Well, it is all true. In this research blog I am going to further discuss these vaccine ingredients, how vaccines are created and explain how they work.

The creation of a vaccine begins with “the exploratory stage, then proceeds to the preclinical stage, clinical development (initial testing, testing on intended target group, and large-scale testing), regulatory review and approval, and finally manufacturing and distribution” (Clowes, 2021). The World Health Organization (WHO) network called Global Influenza Surveillance and Response System shares data and clinical samples to try to identify the next virus most likely to cause an epidemic. The annual vaccines we receive such as the flu shot for example is a guess of which strain of the virus will spread. In other words, the shot you receive is just a guess of whether it will actually protect you or not. There are many different strains of viruses. New variants are expected in the evolution of viruses. For example, there are more than 150 strains of HPV.  How these vaccines work is an antigen is injected into the body. These antigens are created from either animals (which are sometimes dogs, as well as monkeys), chicken eggs or human fetuses. When the body gets injected with the antigen it releases antibodies that attack the disease to destroy the antigens. If the body gets attacked with the antigen again (you get sick from the virus you received) the body will recognize the antigens and quickly respond.

One of the ways to create and collect antigens is through human fetuses. The National library of medicine states “The use of fetal tissue from elective abortions is commonplace in the pharmaceutical industry and in medical research”. (McKenna, 2018). When children are born the The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends fifteen different vaccines for the child to be injected with to protect them. Three of these vaccines M-M-R-II, VARIVAX, and HAVRIX “utilize cell lines WI-38 or MRC-5 that were derived from fetal tissues harvested from elective abortions in the 1960s.”(McKenna, 2018).  As for covid 19 vaccines as of March 2021, “the Charlotte Lozier Institute lists about fifty vaccines of several different types in actual use or undergoing various stages of testing. About twenty of these vaccines use material from aborted babies during their development, production and testing phases.” (Clowes, 2021).

Here is a list from Human Life International of all the vaccines with the use of fetal tissue:

[1] Vaccines that use the human cell line WI-38, derived from aborted preborn children, include the following:

  • Rubella vaccines Meruvax© (Merck), Rudivax© (Sanofi Pasteur, France), and Ervevax© (RA 27/3) (GlaxoSmithKline, Belgium)
  • Rubella/measles vaccines M-R-VAX© (Merck) and Rudi-Rouvax© (AVP, France)
  • Rubella/mumps vaccine Biavax© (Merck)
  • Measles/mumps/rubella (MMR) vaccines M-M-R© II (Merck), R.O.R.© and Trimovax© (Sanofi Pasteur, France), and Priorix© (GlaxoSmithKline, Belgium)

Vaccines that use the human cell line MRC-5, also derived from aborted preborn children, include the following:

  • Hepatitis A vaccines VAQTA (Merck) and HAVRIX (GlaxoSmithKline)
  • Chicken pox vaccine Varivax© (Merck) (also uses WI-38)
  • Poliomyelitis vaccine Poliovax© (Aventis-Pasteur, France)
  • Rabies vaccine Imovax© (Aventis-Pasteur, France)
  • Smallpox vaccine AC AM 1000 (Acambis)

The big debate is whether the use of human fetuses for medical practices is ethical or not. Religion plays a big role. If a Catholic or Pro-Life individual went to receive a vaccine and later on found out aborted human fetuses were used in the creation of the vaccine. That would be against their morals or their religion. Here is a statement from Father Tadeusz Pacholczyk, Director of Education for the National Catholic Bioethics Center, on what specific actions an individual can take. “…ask their health-care providers for accurate information detailing whether particular vaccines were developed using cell lines of illicit origin. This engages the health-care profession in a discussion that it very much needs to become party to. Parents can make known their disagreement by writing to the pharmaceutical companies that manufacture the vaccines.”

Now let's discuss the mammalian (which is usually dog, madin-darby canine kidney, or MDCK cells) or insect cell-based manufacturing process. These practices are dangerous. This is because “their may be extraneous agents in the vaccines”. For example, “monkey kidney cells used to create Jonas Salk’s polio vaccine were contaminated with a monkey virus. The virus was called SV40. This virus also caused cancer in experimental animals”.

Some people are okay with these practices, support, and agree with them, which is okay. Some however, do not. This is the reason why I am typing this blog. People are quick to receive a flu shot, or just about any vaccine when suggested to do so by a doctor. I strongly believe if people knew more about vaccines there would be a noticeable decrease in the amount of people receiving them.
